Day 1. Pick-up in Barcelona and shuttle to Acebo de Casa Muria hotel

Pick-up at Barcelona airport or City centre. Shuttle to Acebo de Casa Muria, our first select hotel in the mountains.

Day 2. Rafting Esera  River. Benasque Valley

We move in the morning to the Benasque valley.

If there is an exciting and fun activity for anyone, this is Rafting. Navigating on inflatable rafts down the river Ésera in the Benasque Valley is something you should not miss. Beautiful landscapes in calmed stretches combined with exciting rapids, waves and even some drops! Our guides will get you to live an unforgettable adventure

Day 3. Kayak in congosto Montrebei

Do you imagine paddling between vertical walls of 500 metres high separated by only 20 metres of distance? Congosto de Mont-Rebei is a tour between impressive calcareous walls and many paddlers value this route as one of the most spectacular kayaking routes in Catalonia

Ordesa and Mont Perdido National Park

Day 4. The river in Ordesa and Mont Perdido National Park

We’ll visit Aínsa (Huesca), a beautiful medieval town where the passing of the years has not diminished the charm of its streets, churches, squares, etc.
Ordesa National Park is one of Spain’s most famous parks and is the oldest protected area in Europe. From lush forests to rushing rivers and soaring mountains, the resplendence of nature is on full display here, providing you with an unforgettable experience. There will be time for bird-watching and trekking along with learning about the geology and fauna and flora of the Pyrenees.
From there, we will drive to La Jacetania and our second accommodation for the trip, “Hotel Barosse” – a unique hotel for the taste of something different

Mallos de Riglos Natural Monument

Day 5. Rafting in Mallos de Riglos Natural Monument

Los Mallos de Riglos is a natural monument unique set of conglomerate rock formations that rise almost 300 metres. It is also home to the greatest colony of Griffon Vultures in all of Europe. With our rafts we will sail down the river in this beautiful place.
In the evening we visit San Juan de la Peña Monastery is a medieval jewel. It was the most important monastery in Aragon in the high Middle Ages. A good number of kings of Aragon were buried in its Royal Pantheon

Canyoning in the Sierra de Guara

Day 6. Canyoning in Guara Park

After taking in the splendours of Mallos de Riglos Park, we will carry on to Sierra de Guara National Park to explore its mesmerising canyons. You will find that this place is the European paradise for all things canyoning! It is full of jumps, slides made from rock, crystal-clear water pool, and more, all waiting for you.

Hiking in the Valles Occidentales Natural Park of the Spanish Pyrenees

Day 7. Valles Occidentales Natural Park

After a delicious breakfast in Barosse Hotel we set course for our goal today. The ascent of Monks Peak. A beautiful and variable excursion to one of the most amazing viewpoints in the Pyrenees.
Visit Canfranc Train Station / Citadel of Jaca. In the afternoon, we will visit one of Spain’s best conserved fortresses: The Citadel of Jaca, catalogued as part of Spain historical heritage. Return to Barosse Hotel at 18:00h approximately to recharge your batteries.

Included in the Price:
  • Local guides with expert leadership will accompany you for the entirety of your journey;

  • Accommodation will be in the “El Acebo de Casa Muria” and “Hotel Barosse” hotels, as noted in the itinerary;

  • Meals will be in restaurants, in hotels, or in picnic form, as noted in the itinerary;

  • Shuttle transfers from the Barcelona airport and city centre on Days 1-8, as noted in the itinerary;

  • Admission costs to monuments, castles and churches during the trip, as noted in the itinerary.

PAYMENT PLAN:

A deposit of 500€  is required to secure your reservation.

The balance is due 60 days prior to departure.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS:

Cancellations up to 30 days prior to travel are free of charge.
25% fee for cancellations between 30 and 15 days in advance.
50% fee for cancellations made less than 15 days in advance.

This fee remains in an escrow account and is available to you for a new travel booking up to twelve months after the cancelled booking. If this period has elapsed without a booking being made, the customer is NOT entitled to a refund.

We recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance to protect your trip.

Welcome to our house set in the Aragonese Pyrenees! This charming rural house is set in a place of true peace and tranquillity. You will fall in love with its magical landscape as you enjoy its quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

El Acebo de Muria (which literally translates to “a quiet man’s property”) is a beautiful 18th century house situated in the picturesque village of Renanué at an altitude of 1,230 metres. From here, there are magnificent views of the entire Benasque Valley.

Just a stone’s throw away from Jaca is a different hotel concept in the Aragonese Pyrenees. It is a space designed for adult patrons and delicate, small details emerge in corners of marked personality.

This programme includes the following meals during the week:

MEALS
  • A filling breakfast is served in each hotel every morning and consists of a variety of options including Iberian ham, dry meats,
    homemade sausages and cheeses, various homemade breads, toasts,
    and pastries with butters and jams, fresh seasonal fruits and juices, and farm-fresh eggs.
  • We will enjoy to lunch:  Roda de Isabena Restaurant,  Riglos restaurant. Packed picnic lunches are prepared by the hotels.
  • Dinners will be served in your hotels, except for a couple of days we will enjoy La Cadiera Jaca and Diamo Restaurant.

David Ruiz de Gopegui: Local guides in the Pyrenees

David Ruiz de Gopegui

Born in Zaragoza in 1984, the mountains beckoned David from afar and he could not resist their call. He is a qualified teacher specialising in environmental studies, a leisure time instructor, and also a trained mountain guide instructor (UIMLA International). He combines his love of photography with his work in the open air doing mountain related activities.

David is deeply passionate about the Pyrenees where he has worked for the last 14 years coordinating environmental and sporting activities. Since 2013 , he has led various international expeditions to such places as the Himalayas in Nepal, to the Alps in France and Italy, and he is seeking to embark on a new adventure in the future to Patagonia.

Alberto Marín: Local guides in the Pyrenees

Alberto Marín

Alberto is a professional mountain guide, with specialities in mountaineering and climbing. He is also in environmental educator, specialising in natural heritage interpretation, Leisure Time and canoe Monitor, canyoning sports technician and Mountain guide for the blind and the visually Impaired. With almost 20 years of experience in the sector, he has worked in almost all the valleys in the Aragonese Pyrenees, leading groups of multitude of nationalities in the mountains or coordinating environmental educational programmes, nature workshops and leisure and adventure programmes.

NOTES ABOUT CLOTHES – ACTION & ADVENTURE

Take comfortable clothes for hiking.  Shorts maybe fine for most days but it is recommendable to take light-weight trousers aswell for cooler weather and to protection against tall grass. The best way to be comfortable is to wear various layers.  It’s a good idea to bring a change of clothes for the evening, casual is best though, nothing fancy like coats or ties.
The activities are planned during the best period of weather conditions, however being a mountainous climate it can variable and it is best to be prepared for a variety of weather conditions.
Be prepared.

This list of clothes is just a guide.

  • Good quality rain gear, for example Gore-Tex raincoat/wind stopper with hood.

  • Thick woollen jacket or woollen jumper or light Goose down Jacket or fleece and waterproof or similar.

  • Long sleeve top.  Quick drying fabrics like nylon are recommendable.

  • Long-sleeve and short-sleeve tops.

  • Hiking trousers.  Lightweight cotton or synthetic hiking trousers are the most practical choice. Jeans are not recommended because they are too hot in the sun and take a long time to dry if they get wet.

  • Hiking shorts. Made from quick drying material are recommended.

  • Swimsuit to wear under the neoprene suit.

  • A cap/hat with a wide brim preferably waterproof to protect against the sun and rain.

  • Medium weight hiking boots with Vibram rubber outer sole with good ankle support.

  • Boots or trainers that can get wet in the water activities.

  • Casual shoes for sightseeing.

  • Good walking socks. Some people like thick Thorlo socks with padded toes/ heels, or use an outer sock and synthetic inner sock.

  • Light woollen gloves and hat for cool weather.

  • Synthetic long underwear.

  • Underwear / nightwear. Synthetics fabrics dry faster.

  • Smart casual clothes to eat out in the restaurants.

    Do you have a thirst for adventure and ready for an adrenalin rush? Discover the wild side of the Pyrenees. You must be in good physical condition and willing to not hold back! These activities include mountain trekking with significant elevation differences from 600-900 meters, possibly with rocky areas where you may have to climb. The program offers the opportunity to try the most exciting adventure activities: rafting, Kayaking and climbing. To compliment these intense experiences, you will also have the opportunity to visit the ancient monuments of interest, various villages and their people, and last if not least the Gastronomy.
