At Pyrenees Travels, we believe that travelling to new places and meeting new people are very valuable tools in developing positive experiences and building empathy between peoples from different cultures. Our trips within the Spanish Pyrenees are based on the high standard of working alongside local businesses to provide environmentally-friendly products and experiences. Additionally, by partnering with small hotels located in valleys and rural villages, we have a direct and positive effect on the economy of these remote places and their people.
In a more direct way, we also support other international charities which we have chosen for their extraordinary merit. We donate 3% of the cost of your trip directly to these organisations.
In 2019-20, we will collaborate with Maria Carpio and Mikabu Mollel and their special Carpio-Peréz Foundation that operates in some of the poorest villages in Tanzania. This foundation is a wonderful example of people giving everything, their struggle and solidarity, and was started by people who met each other whilst travelling. It is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organisation that has been working in Tanzania since 2009. The Carpio-Peréz Foundation carries out projects that help generate income, healthcare, and education so that some of the most disadvantaged groups – Maasai widows and orphans and the entire Maasai community of villages in the Arusha region, such as Arkaria, Lendikinya, and Eluwai – can be alleviated in some extent of their extreme poverty.
