Daily Itinerary
10-day Pyrenean tour exploring Romanesque heritage, dramatic landscapes, charming villages, and natural parks, with cultural traditions, scenic treks, and iconic sites like Ordesa and Aigüestortes.
Day 1: Arrival and Welcome Reception at Barosse Hotel
Pick-up from the city or airport in Barcelona, Zaragoza, or San Sebastián and private shuttle to the Pyrenees, where we will stay at the charming Barosse Hotel.
Upon arrival, enjoy a Welcome Reception on the terrace of this boutique mountain hotel. During the reception, we will hold an informative meeting to review the week’s program.
Day 2: Valles Occidentales Natural Park, Canfranc Train Station, and the Citadel of Jaca
We kick off the week with a high-altitude 4×4 vehicle trail through the Western Valleys Natural Park, reaching over 2,000 meters to enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the historic Canfranc Train Station, followed by the Citadel of Jaca, one of Spain’s best-preserved fortresses and a designated Historical Heritage Site.
Day 3: Mallos de Riglos, Loarre Castle, and San Juan de la Peña Monastery
After breakfast, we journey to Los Mallos de Riglos, a natural monument renowned for its dramatic rock formations and as a haven for raptors.
Next, we’ll explore Loarre Castle, one of Europe’s most impressive Romanesque fortresses, and the San Juan de la Peña Monastery, a stunning Romanesque treasure nestled in the Pyrenees.
Day 4: Ordesa National Park and Añisclo Canyon
Today, we venture into Ordesa National Park, a landscape of majestic mountains, endless forests, and picturesque valleys.
Our morning begins with a walk through Añisclo Canyon, uncovering its rich geology, flora, and fauna. In the afternoon, we’ll visit some of Ordesa’s famous viewpoints, offering spectacular panoramic vistas of the valley.
Day 5: Alquézar and Sierra de Guara Natural Park
We start the day in Alquézar, one of Spain’s most beautiful villages, and take a memorable trek through the Vero River Gorge, known for its dramatic footbridges and sculpted rock formations.
The route concludes at the Collegiate Church of Alquézar, a true feast for the eyes.
Day 6: Posets-Maladeta Natural Park
Our destination today is the Forau de Aigualluts, a spectacular natural amphitheater with a famous waterfall. From here, enjoy stunning views of Mount Aneto, the highest peak in the Pyrenees at 3,404 meters.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore the charming town of Benasque, often referred to as the “Little Switzerland” of the Pyrenees. Return to the hotel by approximately 6:00 PM to recharge for the following day.
Day 7: Pyrenees: Romanesque Art in Its Purest Form
After a hearty breakfast, we will head to Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, a vast protected area in Catalonia. We will cross its lakes and forests until we reach the stunning Estany Redó. The scenery here is absolutely breathtaking!
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the San Clemente de Tahull Chapel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing Romanesque art at its finest.
Day 8: Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. Boi Tahull Chapels.
A day of natural beauty awaits as we visit Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park in Catalonia. Explore its pristine lakes, dense forests, and dramatic landscapes, culminating at the San Maurici Lake.
In the afternoon, we’ll tour the San Clemente de Taüll Chapel, another UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing Romanesque art at its finest.
Day 9: The Depopulated Villages of the Pyrenees – Muria Valley
On our final day, we journey to the Muria Valley, where we will visit some of the region’s oldest, most remote villages. These depopulated settlements offer a poignant glimpse into the past, highlighting the cultural heritage and traditions that once thrived in these mountains.
This reflective day provides the perfect conclusion to our unforgettable Pyrenean adventure.
Day 10: Return shuttle to the City.
After breakfast, we will provide a shuttle back to Barcelona, Zaragoza, or San Sebastián. The estimated time of arrival is 1:30 PM.
